Singapore Police Contingent statistics also showed an increase of 12 cases or 67 percent with a large percentage of cases of violent crime categories of rape, gang robbery without firearms and cause injury.
State police chief SAC I Mazlan Mansor said the statistics also show that students involved in the case of motorcycle theft and snatch theft.
"In drug cases, the number of students involved dropped the case into five cases from six cases from January to July last year," he said.
He said this in his speech at the launch of the Anti-Bullying Campaign School at the State Level Police Contingent Headquarters State, Bear Hill yesterday. Also present were Director of the State Education Department, Abu Isa.
According to Mazlan, the organization of the campaign is a mechanism to help students form positive values in themselves that could curb cases of bullying in schools.
"It is a place to inculcate moral values among students as a generation that is shaping the future of the country, especially in this era of borderless world today.
"Desolation culture, morals and values of a society would erode the formation of a national government's wish for this," he said.
Accordingly he said, social issues such as bullying and disciplinary violations must be addressed immediately before it became an epidemic that is difficult to treat.
"Every society must assume greater responsibility and trust by giving special attention to the issue of discipline in schools.
"The disciplinary committee has been established between the Ministry of Education is the best channel to address this problem," he said.
He stressed again that the police are very serious view of cases of bullying occurring in schools and would not compromise to impose affirmative action to those involved.
"Even if the bully is still categorized as juvenile cases as enshrined in the Children Act 2001, the justice and the rights of victims of bullying should be fully enforced in accordance with existing laws.
"Victims of bullying are advised to immediately report the incident to school authorities, parents and police to act to stop this immoral act can be done immediately," he said.
