School is an institution that is very important for the country. This is where the next generation of leaders and future leaders in the country, educated and formed. Similarly, the institution of school is a place to nurture and establish identity and patriotism of the nation, in addition to functioning as a place of academic education and skills.
However press reports indicate cases of juvenile crime among school students are becoming more common, which to some extent affected the role of schools as a former self-esteem and education of the country's future.
Most of the problems of crime in schools starting with the problem of bullying. Bullying is a form of abuse through the rough action of the weak in order to show the strength of self. Bullying can occur in any physical form such as beating, extortion, slapping, kicking, pulling hair or pinching. Meanwhile, mental bullying is to ridicule, taunt, harass and insult. In general, bullying is more likely to occur among male students, either individually or collectively.
However bullying among girls should not be ignored, but it is increasing. Starting with the case of Sherman Mohd Jaafar, 14, who suffered serious injuries in the neck and back after a beating by five senior students in a school dormitory in Tumpat, Kelantan. Recently, cases of bullying in Kuching which involves five high school girls who do violence to the victims of a mass has expressed concern in the community, especially our parents. This situation created a tense atmosphere is not safe and secure at school.
Indeed the issue of bullying in schools should not be viewed with one eye only. It requires commitment from all parties, teachers, parents or students themselves to ensure that the institution be building schools instead of science to produce a gangster. Bullying, either for fun or for hatred and seeking revenge, is not due to cultural institutions menunjangi school.
Many factors affect a student involved in the phenomenon of bullying. Among them, family background, peer group, less religious upbringing, environment and school culture and mass media. Thus, it is clear that the family background and school environment and culture greatly influenced the development of an individual. Parents should spend time and devote full loving to their children. Parents should always be sensitive to the selection of peers by their children, to take cognizance of every activity that their children are involved.
In addition, students spend more time at school than at home. Teachers are parents of students at the school. As a teacher and parents of students at the school, the teacher should be familiar with to detect any negative signs or changes in a person is. Like, look at the behavior of students who are always cheerful in school has changed its identity in silence and isolate themselves. It may display the signs that a student might be bullied or involved in any problems. Thus, parents and teachers play a comparable role in the formation of an individual. With this, it can curb the young today are stuck in the mire of these symptoms.
Although, all these factors affect the emotions and the formation of an individual, but the individual should be aware of the impact that will exist in the future as a result of the follow-horn today. They also must assess the rationale for that involvement in social symptoms such as these not only increase the crime rate in Malaysia but will destroy all our dreams and careers of a student. This implies dim the future of the students themselves and the victims of bullying.
