Victims of alleged mass beating
KUCHING: Five girls Secondary School (SMK) Semariang City, here, was arrested to facilitate investigations into cases involving bullying a 15-year-old student, Friday.
All students involved were detained at their homes yesterday, after police received reports the victim, on Sunday.
State CID chief, Senior Assistant Commissioner Huzir Mohamed, said the five students involved were detained to assist investigations and pursuant to Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
"This case is quite serious because they do violence to the victims of a mass, but police are looking at whether they should be detained," he said.
In the incident last Friday at 10.30 am, a female student of SMK Bandar Semariang, claimed assaulted a group of girls at school.
The victim fell after deducting the alleged assailant was kicked, stepped on and pulled the lid dated after.
A former friend said the attacker and the victim is believed to cause the incident was revenge.
The victim's mother, Hazleena Single Ali, 36, said before his son was called by the incident, a female student who is a former close friend to settle the misunderstanding between them.
"Arriving at one point in the school, a group of other students are waiting for them to continue the beatings and the victim without mercy.
"My son was screaming, begging not to be beaten, but the group continued to kick and step on.
"It is heartbreaking that the act was recorded using a mobile phone by one of the team's striker and I've copied recordings," he said.
Hazleena said the incident is still traumatized by his eldest son, was afraid to go back to school next week for fear that his safety was threatened.
"My son is also often complain of headaches and dizziness after the incident, but we did not take him to undergo further examination for not able to bear the cost of x-ray," he said.
