The most basic needs are physiological needs in life. This including hunger, thirst, rest, get air and sex. If physiological needs are not met, other needs such as security, love and be loved, the need for self-esteem and self-perfection would be negligible.

Therefore, people will do a behavior to meet physiological before another need arises. When the need physiology have been fulfilled, arose the necessity of security and the needs other. According to Maslow (1951), among children and adolescents are not spared of their needs such as those found in the hierarchy of human needs. Their teens will do a behavior to meet the needs of human life. They will conduct stimulation to meet the physiological needs, safety needs, love and appreciation loving self from others in the region. Therefore, they will do things even if it is deemed to meet the needs stimulation their lives and want to feel safe and respected by their peers or the 'peer group'.

MELAKA 1 August - Index crimes involving primary and secondary school students in the state rose to 30 cases during the first seven months of this year compared to 18 cases during the same period last year.

Bullying: Police will meet the Department of Education

Violence in schools: Moving forward

School plays an important role in providing protection for children against violence. However, for most children, the environment in schools actually expose them to violence in which they will learn violence. They are exposed to punishment in the form of physical, psychological punishment in the form of a very brutal and shameful, and gender-based violence and sexual in nature, and bullying.

Professor of HELP University College, a Professor Datin Noran Fauziah bt. And Dr. Jacob. Goh Chee Leong share views on the importance to stop violence in schools.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3, 2007 - "The cases of bullying in schools has become common now a matter of concern in Malaysia. One of the shocking case of bullying throughout the country is a massive attack against a 16-year-old students by senior students in 2005 which has resulted in the death of the student. This case and other cases have been increasing public concern on violence in schools in Malaysia. Minister of Education had warned about bullying, which is the statement made by him, that strong action will be imposed on those who do, and he also declared that bullying is something that "can not be accepted."

"We must understand that bullying is not necessarily occur in the form of physical violence only. Types of bullying that often occurs and the worst in the Malaysian schools are more psychological nature. If 'terrorism' can be described as an act of deliberate harm done to others, the bully who is not physically represented in the form of violence in the form of emotional and social. Most people give more attention to bullying in a physical form and ignore the form of psychological bullying and is not considered significant. This is an irresponsible position and is very dangerous for both types of bullying can cause distress to the victim.

The effects of bullying

"Emotionally, victims who were bullied often feel scared and worried every time they are in school. This is difficult for them to participate in the learning process. Due to the overwhelming fear, the victim will be skipping school to avoid bullying.

"According to expert reports, the victims of bullying often feel self doubt and a lack of self confidence. Many victims fail themselves for causing the bullying occurs, they believe that the weakness and incompetence they have contributed to the reasons why they were chosen by the bully-bully.

"There are tragic cases where victims of bullying has decided that the only way to stop their suffering is to kill themselves. The research has been done until now, has shown that there is a connection between bullying and ideas of suicide.

"Bullying behavior also can have an impact on children's learning. To ensure the effectiveness of an education, children must be given an environment that can be considered as safe from physical, emotional and intellectual. Only when children feel safe and intact, they will have to be more open to knowledge, only then they will try and learn, and only at the time they are more open to interact and engage with their teachers and friends their partners. When children feel that they threatened to hurt or humiliated, they will not achieve their full academic potential.

"The social, children who have become victims of bullying are often marginalized by their peers. This may be because they feel humble and it leads to lack of confidence in yourself to make friends with others and socialize.

"In most cases, children have been bullied may actually lack social skills to make friends with other children in comfort. Often, victims of bullying feel awkward to socialize with others, and this discomfort becomes more severe when they are bullied. It was a difficult round halted by the victim where they do not have the opportunity to interact with their peers at the other because this is an important stage of their development.

Enhance the school community

"To deal with bullying behavior among students, the ability of the school community and parents need to be improved to cope with situations of bullying and victims effectively.

"UNICEF, together with the Faculty of Behavioural Science at HELP University College and the Ministry of Education has begun a project to introduce behavioral interventions for bullying to schools in Malaysia. This intervention model is based on the Olweus school intervention model has been introduced successfully in several countries around the dunia.Intervensi This should meet the following:

Awareness and the need for urgent action

"Awareness among teachers and students is needed, to provide information that bullying in any form is not acceptable. A shared belief among teachers and students are bullying incidents should be resolved by the victims themselves. One obstacle to the victim is "they should learn to defend themselves and fight back", that is a bad advice, especially when the victim had to deal with a big bully.

For the school, the first step is to obtain information about school bullying cases that occurred in their school, whether psychological or physical. This can be done by asking students to fill out questionnaires related to bullying.

Students can also write the cases of bullying they have experienced. To get a higher response on this matter, the identity of the student shall be secret.

Second, schools must have clear rules relating to bullying.
