Kuala Lumpur, July 3,2010- Education Ministry has sent a warning letter to the 59 boarding schools under its purview last week on the activities of student bullying recently, said a senior official of the ministry. The head of a boarding school discipline management ministry, Samsuri Omar said the warning letter sent to the beginning of each session.However, this warning is important, taking lessons from a suspected incident of bullying that occurs at the Royal Military College (RMC) last week - resulting in one student died.However, the ministry was not responsible for the management of discipline in the college concerned, Samsuri said when contacted this afternoon.Clearly, the college is fully managed by the Ministry of Defence, while the Ministry of Education is overseeing about kebitaraan (academic performance). However, the ministry was still emphasizing the safety of students by distributing the warning last week, said Samsuri again.According to him, the memorial is part of ongoing preventive measures undertaken by the ministry to curb acts of bullying by students at the boarding school. "This is a reminder that the school complies with the power source and circulars by the ministry of education," he said.He added, among other relevant documents outlining actions to be carried out by schools in dealing with disciplinary cases involving acts of bullying. "These, the investigation should be conducted based on complaints received. Schools can not take action before the conclusion of the inquiry."But when the student is found guilty, they could still make an appeal," he said, adding that most violent punishments for such offenses is removal from school. He said, the investigation will be considered as internal affairs of the school, but if it involves a police investigation."The investigation is the internal affairs of the school and others can not intervene. But when a case reached the stage of police investigation, the school will only help the investigation," he said.
